The Oddly Universe: Where Stories Shift When No One Is Looking

The Oddly Universe is a place where familiar tales bend, ancient instincts rise, and objects crafted with purpose begin journeys that outlast their makers. It travels through time — from prehistory to folklore, from fables to modern streets, and into futures not yet written.

Each category opens a different doorway, and some doorways have not yet revealed themselves.

Together, they form a single, shifting world.

Oddly Grimm

Stories born from old European tales — but changed. Promises twist, bargains deepen, and creatures step out of the shadows with motives sharper than their myths. These tales explore the thin line between kindness and consequence, and how even the gentlest hearts can be claimed by darkness.

Oddly Andersen

Tales of beauty, danger, and desire. Objects are rarely what they seem, and the price of wanting something is often higher than expected. The tinderbox begins its thread here — a simple thing meant to give light, yet capable of calling something far darker. Its consequences echo through more than one tale.

Oddly Aesop

Fables reborn in modern streets and cities. Animals speak, race, trick, and outwit one another, carrying ancient lessons into new worlds. These stories keep their teeth sharp, their morals crooked, and their humour intact.

Oddly Neanderthal

Stories from the age before stories. Here, survival is the only language, and instinct is the only law. These tales explore the origins of fear, courage, and memory — long before humans learned to write them down.

Oddly Mesozoic

Naturalistic tales from a world ruled by thunder and instinct. Creatures behave with unsettling familiarity, forming bonds and rivalries that echo the earliest shapes of emotion. These stories reveal how ancient life might have felt from the inside.

Oddly ???

Some categories have not yet stepped into the light. They wait in the shadows — unnamed, unseen, and unformed — ready to reveal themselves in future volumes.

These stories may rise from forgotten eras, distant futures, or corners of the universe not yet explored. Their shapes are still hidden, but their arrival will shift the Oddly Universe in ways no one expects.

Travelling Artefacts

Some stories in the Oddly Universe are carried not by characters, but by objects.

The Tinderbox

Crafted with purpose. Hidden under a tree. Struck once, and something answers. Its thread begins in Oddly Andersen, where the consequence of calling first reveals its shape. Where it travels next — and who dares to strike it again — becomes part of the volumes to come.

The Mirror

Commissioned by a Queen. Made to show truth. But truth is rarely gentle. Its story begins in Volume II, and its reflections will not stay in one chamber for long.

These artefacts do not belong to any single tale. They move, change hands, and reshape the world around them. Their threads weave through the volumes, binding the universe together.

A Universe That Grows in Shadow

Each volume adds new creatures, new dangers, and new truths. Some stories stand alone. Others connect quietly in the dark. And a few — the ones carried by artefacts — will continue long after their first owners are gone.

This is the Oddly Universe.

It shifts when no one is watching.
