About the Author

Some storytellers arrive suddenly. Others grow slowly, quietly, over many years.

Jerry A Thomas is the second kind — a writer, like a Yew tree, taking his time, deep‑rooted, patient, gathering the shadows of old tales until they were ready to be reborn.

He has always walked the edges of stories: the places where folklore blurs into instinct, where fables sharpen their lessons, where ancient worlds still breathe beneath the surface. Jerry writes from those borders — part observer, part wanderer, part keeper of the echoes that older tales leave behind.

The stories of his childhood never left him. They simply waited, like seeds under winter soil, until the moment they could grow again in new shapes. Oddly Grimm is the result of that long maturation: a universe where familiar tales twist, deepen, and reveal the truths that were always hiding in their roots.

Jerry writes not as a distant architect, but as someone who listens closely to the dark corners of myth and memory. His work explores how stories evolve when no one is watching — how they shift, how they remember, how they return changed.

And like the Yew, he continues to grow.

Why Oddly Grimm Exists

Oddly Grimm began as a question that lingered for years — a question Jerry carried the way a Yew carries its rings: What happens to old stories when they are allowed to grow again?

Not retold. Not modernised. Not polished into something safe. But grown — given new roots, new shadows, new instincts.

The tales we inherit often arrive softened, trimmed, made gentle for younger ears. But beneath those softened versions lie older shapes: darker, stranger, more honest. Jerry always felt those shapes watching from the edges, waiting for someone willing to step close enough to see them clearly.

Oddly Grimm exists because stories do not stay still. They shift when remembered. They deepen when revisited. They change when someone listens closely enough.

This universe is built to explore those changes — the way a fairytale can twist when its kindness is tested, the way a fable can sharpen when placed in a modern street, the way ancient instincts can rise again when given a voice.

Oddly Grimm is not a return to the past. It is a return to the truth beneath the past. A place where familiar tales step into shadow and emerge with their original teeth.

A Universe Built to Grow

The Oddly Universe was never meant to stay still. It grows the way old forests do — slowly, unpredictably, and in more directions than anyone expects. Each tale adds a new ring to its trunk, each volume opens a new doorway, and each artefact carries a thread that may travel far beyond its first owner.

This universe moves through time rather than sitting inside it. It reaches backward into prehistory, where instinct is the only law. It steps into folklore, where promises and bargains shape the world. It wanders through fables, sharpening ancient lessons for modern streets. And it looks forward, toward futures not yet written, where new shadows wait to take form.

Some corners of the Oddly Universe are already known:

  • Oddly Grimm — the darker roots of folklore
  • Oddly Andersen — beauty, danger, and design
  • Oddly Mesozoic — the thunder‑ruled world
  • Oddly Neanderthal — the age before stories
  • Oddly Aesop — fables reborn in the present day

But others remain unnamed. They wait in the dark, unfinished, unseen, gathering shape. These future categories — the Oddly ?? — will reveal themselves only when their stories are ready, stepping out of the shadows in volumes yet to come. Oddly Grimm is built to hold all of them.

It is a universe that expands quietly, connecting tales through instinct, consequence, and the objects that travel between them. Some stories stand alone. Others whisper to one another across centuries. A few will continue long after their first chapter closes.

This is a world designed to grow — not quickly, but deeply.

Stories rarely end where we expect them to. They leave echoes, open doorways, and invite us to wander a little further. If you wish to continue exploring the Oddly Universe, the paths below will guide you.
